Modern Mudroom marries Italianate Grand Dame beautifully
This avant-garde very hip family who has lived overseas conveyed their vision for this modern mudroom from the outside to the inside. Having worked with them before on a modern kids bathroom, unique light fixtures to sourcing an extra large piece of art to hang in their foyer I was fully aware of the intricacies' in making this architecture marriage work seamlessly. The mudroom addition exterior is horizontal mahogany boards which mirror ipe without an ordeal. The exterior details quietly but effectively were executed with client’s love of Art Deco. Mudroom step railing, lights, hints of copper and special door hardware, all custom brought this modest addition to life!
As you enter the Mudroom you see immediately beyond to the rear door and out to the backyard as well as into the adjacent kitchen. The Lighting was custom designed with Anthony of Distressed Design, Florida, to accentuate the height of the room at the same time creating a more intimate space for storing coats, shoes and boots. All the cabinetry we custom designed and used a dark walnut wood and paint finish to change things up a bit. The heated flooring is porcelain stone color. All the exterior and interior hardware is uniquely European and special order.
